As part of our new ‘Meet the team’ series, we’re chatting to key members of the Eukleia family each month, so you can get to know them better. Today we’re speaking to, Ian Parrott, Senior Account Director in Eukleia’s London office.
What does your role as Senior Account Director at Eukleia entail?
I lead a team of one Account Manager, two Project Managers, a Client Experience Executive (for LMS support) and a Team Support Administrator. Most of my day-to-day duties are around supporting, developing and coaching the team, maintaining client relationships and working on various strategic projects such as our generic course catalogue evolution
Which part of working at Eukleia do you love most?
We all know each other well and work together closely, so when a team can come together and positively collaborate on a project it feels good. With us being a part of Learning Technologies Group (LTG), we are starting to work with other companies in the Group to combine efforts on projects. This means the projects are often diverse and the deliverables are new and cutting edge
What is your proudest accomplishment?
The diversity of my career! I worked in retail banking in Australia for 11 years managing branches, regions and projects before giving it all up to go flying as crew in commercial aviation. I then trained and recruited others to do the same. After doing that in both Australia and the UK, I ended up in a Learning and Development Manager role at a British carrier which then lead me to working at Eukleia. It’s great to have a mix of experiences to share as well as having seen a lot of the world
What is the biggest challenge you’ve overcome?
Having a fear of heights (whilst loving flying!) and jumping out of an airworthy plane (twice) on a tandem skydive would have to be right up there – literally!
What are the three things you can’t work without?
- A box of decaf teabags
- A good flat white-capable coffee shop nearby
- Access to a toastie mid-morning on ‘those’ days
What subject could you give a 30-minute presentation about with no advance preparation?
Commercial aviation. That might be boring for most, but it was a part of my life for ten-ish years so I am really interested in airlines, their products and the destinations they fly to. My partner is sick of me looking upwards every time an aircraft flies overhead and calling out who the livery belongs to. For me, the flying part of the holiday is the most exciting bit!.And yes, I do actually love airplane food…
