As part of our new ‘Meet the team’ series, we’re chatting to key members of the Eukleia family each month, so you can get to know them better. Today we’re speaking to Principal Consultant, Kate Nichol, in Eukleia’s London office.
What does your role as Principal Consultant entail?
My role is quite varied. I spend a lot of my time helping clients customise our generic courses. Sometimes, clients know exactly what changes they need, but often they rely on us to do the ‘heavy lifting’. In those cases, I will establish how a course needs to be adapted for a particular organisation’s industry sector or legal jurisdiction. The next step is tailoring the course content to reflect the client’s own policies and procedures, and/or devising case studies that show learners what the learning points mean in practice for them.
The rest of my time is spent writing the scripts for new generic offerings or client bespoke courses, supporting commercial colleagues in client meetings and answering queries from our project management and studio teams.
Which part of working at Eukleia do you love most?
It is great being part of such a skilled and friendly team.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
That would walking 1,500 kilometres along the pilgrim trail from central France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. I was a lot younger then!
What is the biggest challenge you’ve overcome?
Probably qualifying as a chartered accountant. As many people will know, the conflicting demands of working and studying at the same time can be tricky to manage .
What are the three things you can’t work without?
Supportive colleagues, the Internet and my furry pencil case.
What subject could you give a 30-minute presentation about with no advance preparation?
I’d choose a literary or historical topic, maybe the Sherlock Holmes stories or something about ancient Rome.
