Course Outline

Context

The course addresses the FCA's current focus on the awareness and understanding of APER and is an ideal vehicle for communicating a firm's internal values.

A key message of the course is that all employees are expected to meet the standard of conduct set out in the FCA Principles and Code of Practice for Approved Persons, even where their role does not require individual registration with the FCA. The course also contains an additional scenario for managers and supervisors focusing on the application of Principles 5-7.

The course's interactive style and tailored and personalised approach engages the learner, encourages them to make difficult judgements and provides helpful and practical guidance. The quick-fire questions against the clock keep the learner on their toes.

Accreditation

SCORM 1.2 compliant. The course uses Adobe Flash and Trivantis Lectora.

Implementation

This course runs on any SCORM compliant LMS platform. Adobe Flash Player 10 plug-in (or later) must be installed in the web browser. JavaScript must also be enabled and all pop-up blockers disabled.

Learning outcomes:

Audience:

The course is suitable for all staff within the financial services industry. A key feature of the course is the "stranding" - the learner selects their role and the scenarios are tailored accordingly.

Course duration:

Approximately 30 minutes.

Assessment:

The scenarios chosen throw up real dilemmas. The “grey” areas are explored through detailed feedback. The choices selected by the learner are “scored” and their performance assessed.
