Equality in the Workplace

Course Outline


The course starts by highlighting the importance of equality in the workplace and emphasising the commercial benefits to the company.

The Equality Act.

This section introduces the Equality Act, including the Protected Characteristics and the different types of discrimination that are covered. It concludes with some scenarios to highlight the scope of the Act.

Equality Policies and Procedures

This section examines the company's Equal Opportunities Policy and Code of Conduct. It also explains how employees can report their concerns through the company's grievance or whistleblowing procedures. It concludes with some case studies to highlight the expected behaviour of employees.

Course test

The course ends with a 10 question multiple choice test that selects at random from a bank of 25.

This course runs on any SCORM compliant LMS platform. Adobe Flash Player 8 plug-in (or later) must be installed in the web browser. JavaScript must also be enabled and all pop-up blockers disabled.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the course the learner will be able to:

  • Explain their personal obligations to maintain equality in the workplace
  • Know how to raise concerns


The course is suitable for all staff and requires no previous knowledge or experience. Examples and interactions are designed to be used by staff at all levels.

Approximately 25 minutes.
